imageThe Maguire O'Shea Academy has been running for nearly forty years. Kathleen Maguire has won three world championships and together with her husband Michael Maguire they have produced many World, All Ireland and all major champions, with many of their dancers going on to perform in major shows such as 'Riverdance', 'Lord of the Dance' and 'Magic of the Dance'. They have six children, five of which have performed with Riverdance. Darren their eldest son has performed the lead in the show, Michael was also with the same troupe and trained for the understudy. Their youngest son Ciaran has performed in Dancing on Dangerous Ground with Colin Dunne and Jean Butler. He is now a lead in Magic of the Dance. Katie performed with Riverdance for eight years and was Dance captain while the troupe perfromed in China and Japan. Ellie has toured all over the world with Riverdance and is now back home teaching with Maguire O'Shea. Many of their other pupils are also lead dancers in various shows, making Maguire O'Shea one of the most successful schools in the world. Their youngest daughter Ellie won the World Championship three times making Irish dance history, being the first mother and daughter to both win the world championships.

imageDarren Maguire relocated to Tucson in the summer of 2006 to open the Maguire Academy of Irish Dance after ‘hanging up’ his Riverdance shoes. Having danced with the world-renowned show for ten years, Darren performed on many the world’s most notable stages, including Radio City Music Hall, The Kremlin and the Great Hall of the People. Darren is an accredited ADCRG, the certification required to adjudicate Irish dance competitions under the rules of the Dublin, Ireland based Irish Dancing Commission. Darren’s championship record is long. Before joining Riverdance in 1996, he had earned first place at many regional and National competitions, including the Great Britains, All England, All Ireland and the Regional Oireachtas; and a second place in the World Championships. imageSean started his career at a very young age, one of six children; his first appearance was in the film “A Voyage Round My Father” with Sir Laurence Olivier when he was just five years old. His next big break came when he was ten. His agent put him up for a lead role in the long running children’s series “Grange Hill”. He got the part and played Tegs for four years. Sean’s next roles were Simon Leighton in the drama series “Dodgem”, Jason in “Growing Pains and appearances in the films “The Secret Garden” and “Waterlands” with Jeremy Irons. In 1993 he joined the cast of the British soap “Eastenders” playing Aiden Brosnan, a young Irish footballer. In 1994, Sean left the show to take a starring role in the BBC drama series Dangerfield playing Marty Dangerfield. He then pursued a music career and released three albums, Sean Maguire in 1994, Spirit in 1996 and Sean Maguire Greatest Hits in 1998. During that time he had eight hit singles and did four UK tours. In 1997, he returned to acting playing Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet”, Hal in the Joe Orton comedy “Loot” and Darren in the UK tour of “Funny about Love” with Stephanie Beecham. Sean starred in the British film “Out of Depth” and played the title role in “Prince Charming” for TNT opposite Christina Applegate, Billy Connolly and Martin Short. He then played the part of Euan in the WB sitcom “Off Centre” alongside Eddie Kaye Thomas. He appeared in three series of "Eve" playing the part of Donovan, a nightclub owner. Most recently he appeared in The Class, a sit-com about a group of twentysomethings, which is currently airing in the UK on E4. Sean is
currently living in Los Angeles.

imageKatie has won the North American Championships twice and was placed in the top three in the World Championships on two occasions. She has also won the Southern England Oireachtas many times. Katie is a qualified ADCRG & TCRG and is currently teaching with the Maguire O’Shea Academy after 8 years of performing with ‘Riverdance’ and touring the world extensively. Places include Radio City Music Hall, The Kremlin and the Great Hall of the People. She was also Dance Captain for the troupe while on tour.

imageMichael Maguire started Irish dancing at the age three and was taught by his parents, Michael and Kathleen Maguire. As an amateur he was champion of London for five consecutive years, and received multiple awards in the World Championships in solo and group competitions. He began his professional career in 1999 with the international show Gaelforce Dance. Over the years he has performed in many shows including Gaelforce Dance, Ragus, Magic of the Dance, Dancing Feet, Celtic Masters, Celtic Feet and Hammerstep. He joined Riverdance in late 1999 and toured the world for over eight years, performing in prestigious venues including The Kremlin, Moscow and The Great Hall of the People, Bejing. He progressed musically as an on stage drummer and singer, and was also trained as understudy for the main lead. Michael is featured in several Riverdance documentaries including the most recent ‘Riverdance: Today’s Stars’ and Riverdance Live from Beijing. In the summer of 2005, he made his debut in the west end. ‘The Shaughraun’, an Irish melodrama set in the nineteenth century was written by Dion Boucicault. He completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Facilitating Learning and Development in 2010 and teaches in four schools across London and enjoys the privilege of being a member of the Riverdance flying squad.

imageCiaran Maguire has been dancing from the age of three. Taught by his parents, he followed in his siblings footsteps. Ciaran qualified for all the World Championships and won World medals and local championships. He has toured the World for ten years now with Riverdance, Gael Force, The Liam O’Connor Show, Celtic Feet, Dancing on dangerous Gound with Colin Dunne and Jean Butler and is now performing the lead in Magic of the Dance. Ciaran danced the lead role in Hyde Park corner with Celtic Feet on St Patricks day last year to a crowd of 100,000. Ciaran is now dancing while living in Salou, Spain with girlfriend Collette. imageEllie Maguire started to dance at the age of two. At the age of two and half she took part in a concert at Ilford town hall. It was the only occassion that all the family danced together before sean's acting career took hold. In 2005 at the North American Nationals, it was the first time that fifteen judges adjudicated, with five judges on each round. Ellie was the only female dancer to acheive 1500 points. The maximum with top score of 100 points from each judge. She went on to win the World Championship in 2006 for her third time creating a new record. Her mother Kathleen had also won the World Championship three times. They are the only mother and daughter to have acheived this feat. Ellie received a great deal of encouragement and tutoring from her bigger sister Katie while training for the World Championships. Ellie danced the lead role in Rhythms of Ireland touring Australia in 2008. She then joined Riverdance in Japan and China in May 2008. Since then she has toured throughout America, Europe and the Far East. Ellie is now back home doing what she loves best, teaching and preparing dancers for competitions like the World Championships.
